About
As a learning specialist, a certified school counselor, and as a licensed associate counselor, Dixita has been very passionate about being in the helping profession for many years. Dixita finds that everyone has a story to share and that most of her clients want to have the opportunity to share that story. Dixita believes in a client-centered, holistic approach, where clients can feel empowered and motivated to help themselves attain their goals and reach their fullest potential. Therapeutic Approaches: Existential, Cognitive-Behavioral, Interpersonal, Solution-Focused, Person-Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Positive Psychology, Play Therapy, Psychoeducation, Systems Theory. Dixita believes in an evidence-based, integrative method, which is best suited to meet the needs of the individual or couple.
Her counseling approach also encompasses a growth mindset, mindfulness, self-compassion, and empathy. Dixita loves spending time with her partner and two children, watching football, dancing, gardening, reading, hiking, and watching movies.
During graduate school, Dixita had the opportunity to present at the ACA National Conference on “Navigating Acculturation with Pride and Hope: Promoting Resiliency in Asian Immigrant Children and Adolescents”. Recently, I worked as a postgraduate staff counselor with Mental Health Services at TCNJ, where I provided direct clinical care to the diverse undergraduate and graduate population, from varied socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and LGBTQ+ identities.
