About

Ruth has 23 years’ of experience in various mental health settings, worked with children and adolescents, adults, elderly, forensic psychiatry and substance use disorder. She has a wide knowledge base and enjoys the multi-dimensional population at Victory Bay, as well as working with mental health clients, SUD clients and adolescents. Her role as Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is to assess, diagnose and treat the mental health needs of patients. Many PMHNPs provide therapy and prescribe medications for patients who have mental health disorders or substance abuse problems. PMHNPs may also provide physical and psychosocial assessments, emergency psychiatric care and treatment effectiveness evaluations. Creating treatment plans and collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team, educating clients and their families on mental health concerns, adjusting medication and treatment plans for patients

Why you are passionate about your job?

Ruth feels a sense of reward from being involved directly in improving the lives of people with acute and chronic mental health disorders like depression, PTSD, behavioral disorders, and anxiety. She is passionate about advocating for her patients and educating their communities by increasing awareness and providing education on managing, treating and destigmatizing these common mental health problems.
