About Methamphetamine

Crystal meth is short for crystal methamphetamine: a recreational drug that resembles a white rock-like crystal and produces an intense, long-lasting high. Crystal meth use is dangerous and can lead to a wide variety of negative effects as well as the need for crystal meth rehab.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, more than 12 million Americans aged 12 and older have tried crystal meth at least once and more than 450,000 are current users; crystal meth is the fastest growing drug trend in the country.

The Dangers of Methamphetamine

Methamphetamines are highly addictive and crystal meth is often used as a “party drug.” When an individual uses crystal meth, they can easily become hooked and eventually need meth addiction help. Users often experience feelings of:

  • Euphoria
  • Increased energy or alertness
  • An intense, initial “rush”
  • Increased motivation
  • Heightened libido
