About Subutex Use & Addiction

Subutex is the brand name for the drug buprenorphine and is most commonly used for the treatment of opioid dependence. It works to help prevent withdrawal symptoms and cravings so that an individual can recover successfully, however, it can be harmful and addictive when misused.

Subutex is not to be confused with Suboxone. While both drugs are used for opioid treatment, Subutex was developed first and contains only buprenorphine while Suboxone contains buprenorphine and naloxone. However, people can still become addicted to Subutex.

The Dangers of Subutex

Symptoms

Because Subutex is used to treat opioid dependence, it produces similar effects and can be easily abused by users. Instead of taking a tablet orally, many inject the drug intravenously, which can lead to a need for Subutex rehab. Injecting Subutex induces specific symptoms such as:

What to Expect

Arrival to our facility

We will begin by coordinating your arrival to our facility. Victory Bay will work with you to ensure you are transported safely and quickly to our well-maintained facility. Once you have arrived at the center, you can expect to be greeted by our professional addiction treatment staff who will be expecting your arrival.If you are hungry – or maybe a little nervous – you can expect to receive a welcome meal, snack and a drink.

Intake

You will meet our Intake Coordinator, who will sit with you and begin the process by doing some basic assessments and paperwork. You will be scheduled to meet with your own personal Clinical Therapist with whom you will work with throughout your time here. Also, you will be scheduled to meet with one of our incredible Doctors to assess your specific needs.

Finally, with early sobriety, often comes lots of chaos in our lives. Our team will assess any and all areas of your life where you might need support and guidance. Our Case Management team will begin to plan a strategy for supporting you with any Legal, Employment, or Educational needs.
