About Amphetamine Addiction

Amphetamines are stimulants that increase neurotransmitter activity in the brain and also affect the central nervous system. This drug is often prescribed for conditions like attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) or narcolepsy, but its euphoric effects can easily lead to amphetamine abuse.
While amphetamines are physically addictive, they can also be extremely psychologically addictive. In fact, according to the World Health Organization, amphetamines are the second most commonly abused drugs by individuals aged 15-64.

The Dangers of Amphetamine Use

Symptoms

Some of the most popular amphetamines include Adderall, Ritalin, and Dexedrine and are often referred to casually as “uppers,” “speed,” “bennies,” or “eye-openers.” When a person uses these drugs, they can develop an amphetamine addiction, as they commonly experience symptoms like:

Dangers & Effects

Amphetamines can be swallowed, smoked, dissolved in water and injected, or crushed and snorted, but no matter which way the drug is ingested, it can have serious short-term and long-term effects that can lead to amphetamine drug abuse.

What to Expect

Arrival to our facility

We will begin by coordinating your arrival to our facility. Victory Bay will work with you to ensure you are transported safely and quickly to our well-maintained facility. Once you have arrived at the center, you can expect to be greeted by our professional addiction treatment staff who will be expecting your arrival. If you are hungry – or maybe a little nervous – you can expect to receive a welcome meal, snack and a drink.

Intake

You will meet our Intake Coordinator, who will sit with you and begin the process by doing some basic assessments and paperwork. You will be scheduled to meet with your own personal Clinical Therapist with whom you will work with throughout your time here. Also, you will be scheduled to meet with one of our incredible Doctors to assess your specific needs.

Finally, with early sobriety, often comes lots of chaos in our lives. Our team will assess any and all areas of your life where you might need support and guidance. Our Case Management team will begin to plan a strategy for supporting you with any Legal, Employment, or Educational needs.
